Time Ranges at churches

Questions we are often asked are "When will the leaders get to such and such a church?" and "Will my friend be allowed to carry on after *church* - they're close to the cut off time?"
The church check in points are open between specific times which are detailed in the table below. Any walker arriving after the 'close' time will not be allowed to continue and will be withdrawn from the race at that point. The 'close' times are very generous and, in theory, give the last few walkers arriving before the 'close' time enough leeway to get to the next church providing they maintain the same pace. If their pace drops off, chances are that they will be 'timed-out' at the next church because they will have arrived after the 'close' time.

The "Record times" column shows the phenomenal times that Richard Gerrard posted at each church when he set the current race record of 14:40:08 in 2015

As a comparison, the final column, "18h 00m", shows comparable church times for an 18 hour finish. The data used is from Paul Atherton's 2019 race where he finished in 17:59:24 in 8th position.
